Umbwe Route

The Umbwe Route is a very scenic route, though one of the least used. Your nights on the Umbwe route are spent in high-quality 3-man alpine tents’ sleeping a maximum of two persons per tent (carried by the porters).

2Climb briefing. Transfer to park gate. Hike to Umbwe caves campsite. (Approx 5 hours)

3From Umbwe to Barranco. (Approx 6-7 hours). Some steep sections.
Full Board - 3950m
4From Barranco to Karanga Valley. (Approx 4-5 hours) Altitudes vary today between 3500m - 4200m.

5From Karanga Valley to Barafu camp. (Approx 3-4 hours)
Full Board - 4600m
6From Barafu via Stella Point, summit to Uhuru, back to Mweka Camp. (total hiking time approx 12-15 hours).

7From Mweka to park gate. Transfer to hotel, Moshi.

8After breakfast, continue your journey
