With the climbing season in full swing and Mount Kilimanjaro's popular Machame Route getting very busy, we head off on one of the quieter and exceptionally beautiful routes on the mountain - the Shira Route. A real highlight of this climb is crossing the Shira Plateau on day 2, regarded as the best walk on the whole mountain. Our standard 7-day program allows plenty of time to get used to the high altitude before me make our attempt on Kibo, the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
